Refugee support volunteers help new Kiwi families with essential tasks such as setting up homes, visiting local schools, attending medical appointments, and learning about their local community.

We sat down with our outgoing National President and National Youth Representative to find out what they enjoyed most about their time helping to steer our strategic direction.

Chris Ford needed help to evacuate from his home in South Dunedin when flooding caused a local state of emergency.

Jasmine Weston is a Dunedinite, archaeologist, and disaster welfare and support volunteer. She recently received the Jennifer Clark Memorial Scholarship, awarded to people aged 30 and under so that they can attend a course as part of their leadership development. The scholarship is to the value of $2,000.

Maud and Mike Burke have delivered Meals on Wheels in South Auckland four times a week every week of the year since 2016. This clocks up to around 2,600 hours of volunteering each – which would equate to volunteering 24 hours a day for three months straight.
