We are urging people to consider volunteering for New Zealand Red Cross to help deliver on our mission to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilising the power of humanity and enhancing community resilience.
We currently have a critical need to recruit volunteers for multiple roles in Palmerston North. While you’ll be offering your valuable skills and experience, for many of our volunteer positions you’ll also receive training. And in all our roles, you’ll be supported by other experienced volunteers or Red Cross staff.

Volunteer Sales Coordinator
Our book shop in Papaioea | Palmerston North, REaD Books, is looking for a Volunteer Sales Coordinator. This is a great opportunity for someone who is great with numbers, has experience in sales, organised and loves books! In this location, we're looking for someone who can attend monthly meetings with our local Branch.
In this role you will be ensuring Volunteers are informed of the correct procedures and are following these procedures.
We are urgently looking for 1 person to join our team at REaD Books.
Volunteer Stock Coordinator
Our book shop in Papaioea | Palmerston North, REaD Books, is looking for a Volunteer Stock Coordinator. This is a great opportunity for someone who has experience in stock control, likes organising and loves books! In this location, we're looking for someone who can attend monthly meetings with our local Branch.
In this role you will be ensuring Volunteers are informed of the correct procedures and are following these procedures.

Bookshop volunteer
Join the team at Palmerston North Bookshop as Bookshop volunteer.
We are urgently looking for 10 people to join our team at the Palmerston North Bookshop. We have available shifts on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Refugee Support volunteer
By becoming a Refugee Support volunteer, you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of former refugees, helping them navigate the resettlement process and rebuild their lives in their new community.
We are urgently looking for 26 friendly volunteers to join our small volunteer teams and assist former refugee families settling in Palmerston North. You will receive comprehensive training and support for your role and have an enjoyable and diverse cultural experience.
Youth Settlement volunteer
By becoming a Youth Settlement volunteer you will help welcome, support and settle new former refugee families and individuals arriving in our Palmerston North community.
We are urgently looking for 6 people to join our team. Volunteers need to be available to attend the full training to meet the requirements for becoming a Youth Settlement volunteer.
Curtain Bank volunteer
Keeping homes warm with appropriate curtains is essential to maintaining health and wellbeing. Our curtain bank volunteers use their skills to help people living in cold houses.
We are urgently looking for 12 people to join our team at the Curtain Bank on Main Street, Palmerston North. You will help in collecting donated curtains, sorting and measuring curtains, fixing and altering curtains that need mending, re-lining used curtains and packing and distributing orders.
Retail volunteer
We are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers for our Palmerston North Red Cross Shop during shop hours 9am-5pm Monday - Saturday. Sunday 10am-3pm.
We are urgently looking for 16 volunteers to help fill shifts across these days.
