Today you have helped to make sure that when communities around the world are affected by a disaster or emergency, we are ready to deliver life-changing relief.
THANK YOU!
Around the world, disasters are becoming more frequent, intense and unpredictable. By donating to the Global Disaster Fund today, you are ensuring Red Cross is ready to deliver vital emergency relief in a disaster or humanitarian crisis.
The impacts of climate change and humanitarian emergencies are being felt across the globe.
We’ve seen frightening wildfires engulf large areas of countries – like in Hawaii and Greece.
We’ve seen severe weather events leave regions underwater – like in Libya, Pakistan and Hong Kong.
We’ve seen earthquakes strike large areas and devastate entire communities – like in Türkiye, Syria and Morocco.
We’ve seen armed conflict cause unthinkable suffering and force millions of people to flee their homes – like in Ukraine, Gaza and Sudan.
Regardless of the disaster or who is affected, the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement is always there. We show up. We guide people to safety. We deliver vital emergency and medical supplies. And we support communities across the globe through their darkest hours.
Red Cross is the world’s largest humanitarian network. Our 191 National Societies provide relief wherever it’s needed most. We are often first on the ground when a disaster strikes, providing critical assistance during some of the worst times in people’s lives. This critical support in a disaster can include:
- Providing life-saving medical care and first aid to those injured or unwell.
- Delivering essentials like shelter, food and clean water to those affected by a disaster.
- Offering emotional and psychosocial support to help people through distress.
- Reuniting loved ones separated during a disaster.
And we remain by the side of affected communities long after others have left to help them recover and rebuild their lives.
Here in Aotearoa New Zealand, we know all too well the devastation floods, fires, and earthquakes cause. Donate today and help communities around the world when the next disaster strikes. Donations to our Global Disaster Fund will ensure Red Cross Red Crescent teams can provide relief where it is needed most, today and in the future.
Please note that donations to this fund will be distributed at the discretion of New Zealand Red Cross to assist in meeting the urgent needs of those most vulnerable around the globe.
Also, don’t forget that when you donate over $5, you can claim 33.33 percent of it back from IRD!
